Through Bansko’s strong summer season and its intense cultural programme, comes turn for some sounds of classical music under the stars.On the 24th, 25th and 25th of August, for the sixth consecutive time, the Bansko Opera Festival will be held.The event brings together some of the brightest and prominent opera stars, including: soprano Ilina Mihaylova, the Sofia Opera bass soloist Svetozar Rangelov, tenor Nikolai Motsov, baritone Svilen Nikolov, bass-baritone Stoyan Stoyandzhov, baritone prof. Niko Isakov. Conducting the orchestra of the Plovdiv State Opera was again entrusted to the maestros Dejan Pavlov for the first evening and to George Patrikov for the Gala evening.
Residents and visitors of Bansko were impressed by the brilliant staging of the comic opera "The Barber of Seville" and popular opera arias and duets by Verdi, Mozart, Strauss, Puccini, Brahms and others. For the emotional experience of the audience contributed a perfect lighting and sound team.
Bansko Municipality, Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko and Monte Music present a production of a highly professional level to all guests and residents of the resort town. In addition from this year on the festival will be extended to 3 days long.
In the first evening of the festival, the audience will enjoy a classical ballet play. On the 27th of August, the Ruse State Opera will present the world famous “Don Quixote” in the adaptation of Sylvia Tomova, which guarantees a magical evening for everyone who loves the art of ballet.
In the second evening of the festival, the Varna State Opera will present the opera by Georges Bizet "Carmen" under the baton of Svetoslav Borisov and directing work of Kuzman Popov. Soloists in this brilliant work from Bizet will be big names from the Bulgarian opera scene- Daniela Dyakova, Ivan Momirov, Plamen Dimitrov, Evgeni Stanimirov and others.
The final Saturday evening of August 29, will be dedicated to the glamorous opera "Queen of Czardas" by Emmerich Kalman presented by the Ruse State Opera conductor Nayden Todorov and director Mario Nikolov. The organizers from Monte Music and National Opera Ruse are, for the first time, adding an operetta to the festival and haveselected one of the most beautiful and memorable one. Starring: Maria Tsvetkova and Mario Nikolov.
The sixth edition of the Opera Festival will once again be at the central square "Nikola Vaptsarov" in Bansko. Entry is free, and performances start at 20:30.
